Sloths live high in the trees in Colombia, but their habitat is getting smaller. This is because many trees are being cut. Fortunately, Proyecto Tití is committed to preserving Colombia’s nature. They prevent tree felling, plant new trees and recycle plastic. The DierenPark Amersfoort Wildlife Fund supports this project together with the IUCN NL Landaankoopfonds.
Proyecto Tití works together with the local community to grow and plant trees. They first investigated which tree species are suitable for planting. Then they cultivated the trees together with the local farmers. When the trees are planted, the trees receive a special tag. With that tag, the trees can be monitored. This way they monitor how the trees are doing and whether they are growing well.
In 2023, deposit bottles will be collected in DierenPark Amersfoort. With the proceeds of this action, trees can be planted by Proyecto Tití. This improves the habitat of the sloth, the titi monkey and many other animals! Do you also want to help? Then hand in your deposit bottle at DierenPark Amersfoort, or make a donation via the website!
