Ethiopia IBREAM 10.000 2019

The Ethiopian wolf is a highly endangered species. Wolves live only in a few places in the lonely mountains of Ethiopia. There are currently less than 500 of this species still alive. The IBREAM project is committed to expanding the population so that this beautiful species of wolf is not lost.

The Ethiopian wolf is threatened with extinction, due to fragmentation of the habitat and diseases that are transmitted. So it’s time for action. IBREAM (the Institute for the Breeding of Rare and Endangered African Mammals) wants to establish a protected breeding station in Ethiopia, together with other experienced partners. At this safe location, the species can reproduce before being released back into the wild.

The Wildlife Fund of DierenPark Amersfoort sponsors this unique initiative and makes it possible for IBREAM members to start coordinating the exact location of the program with the government of Ethiopia and to further develop the roadmap.
